[Solved] Lenovo ThinkCentreM57 6395-AB5 BIOS Core2Duo E8400 Wolfdale E0 CPU Microcode
#31
Hello,

New BIOS 54KT23A 2010/12/10 version released for my Lenovo M57 6395.

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.w...MIGR-69695

As I understand, still no CPUID 1067A for E8400 E0 added. But they add new utilities:
"Srwin utility" and "Product configurations files for LCCM". Maybe you can check this, maybe now it will be easier to add CPUID 1067A microcode?

Also check file 54ja23usa.zip. There are some instructions and explanations, file name readme.1st, open it with notepad, there is string: "FLASH PROGRAM OPTIONS -> /VCPU Installs processor patches". And there are files with *.HSH and *.PAT extentions in the folder. I see that these file names is the same as default supported CPU microcode names. Maybe it will be enought to add 11067A.HSH and 11067A.PAT files from donor BIOS updates and force to install these files?

Hello,

Finally CPU 1067A microcode was successfully added to my BIOS. According to instructions given http://www.rebelshavenforum.com/sis-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=52;t=000135 I extracted my UPDATE0.ROM file from my BIOS image. But this methot with "copy->paste" as described in tutorial, didn't work for me. Then I gave UPDATE0.ROM file to my colleague SW engineer. He found exact hex values from UPDATE0.ROM file in my original BIOS image file. Then he copied all hex values from donor 1067A microcode file to my BIOS image file to offset BB000 size 0x2000 till BD000 and saved my BIOS image. Next I done my bootable USB key and copied all necessary files to make BIOS update via DOS. The result: E8400 E0 core stepping CPU working with my Lenovo ThinkCentre M57 6395-AB5 PC Big Grin Thanks for the help!!!

Hello,

Recently, I got myself a new Intel C2D E7500 2.93Ghz cpu to upgrade my M57. After Bios update to the latest version (54KT23A) and installed the new CPU. I received an error msg "167 no processor bios update found" during bios boot post. I have searched google and yahoo for more information about this error msg. It turns out that nothing can resolve the problem. Does anyone got the similar problem and able to resolve it? Please advise.

To troubleshoot processor issues, follow these steps and test the processor after performing each one:

Notes:

* If either the system board or processor have been replaced, reflash the BIOS to the latest level before proceeding.

* Some computers allow the fan to stop spinning. This is not a malfunction. The fan should start spinning as the system heats up.

1. Ensure the latest BIOS code is installed. This will correct any 167 POST errors for the Intel microcode update and "176 No Processor CPUID" post errors.

2. Reseat the processor and the heat sink

Note: Do not touch either the processor or system board contacting surfaces. These can be extremely fragile and bent pin damage due to touching is not covered under warranty.

3. Verify the processor fan operation is not blocked by cables or other hardware.

4. Verify that any replacement processor is the correct architecture for the system.
