[REQUEST] - Whitelist Removal HP DV6-6186NR
#11
ahh i might have found a solution..will try when i get home...basically even though i deleted HP tools... I had installed the HP support assistant, which automatically creates a hidden HP_TOOLS partition without notifying you. Lets see if that is the case!

so HP sent me a new computer, it has all the same specs but a different motherboard(model is now dv6-6b51nr). The new one uses the SP54846 bios...the link is below.

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softw...ob-99513-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&os=4063&product=5197409&sw_lang=

I tried the whitelist removed version from camilo for SP54846 but it didnt work. It had similar result to the SP55068 on the 6186nr

I can confirm that the latest "sp55068_NWL_ByCamiloml.exe" does NOT work on DV6-6186NR. Get black screen on startup with Intel Centrino Advanced N 6230 card. Even after pulling the CMOS battery for a while. As well I don't have any HP_TOOLS partition since I installed a SSD when I first got the laptop. Had to pull the CMOS battery again to boot up with my stock Intel wireless card.

HP should be ashamed of themselves. The worst is that the Centrino 6230 is listed as a supported card in the 6186NR support docs, but clearly they lied.

Is there anyone that knows if there's another way to get that NWL.exe bios by Camiloml to work for this laptop? Thanks so much - I'm really looking forward to moving to the 5GHz frequency since I just got 150mbps internet in my house and this terrible stock network card isn't getting over 75. Thanks for anyone who can help!

Wondering if there's any possibility of modifying the RSA signed bios, thanks.
