[REQUEST] Sony Vaio VGN-FZ series (R1120J7) BIOS Unlock
#1
Hi All,

I have Sony Vaio VGN-FZ25GN, which I purchased in Nov. 2007. I purchased a 12 cell battery VGP-BPS8, but XP & Vista both are not accepting it.
I had received a BIOS flash along with the battery to enable this specific battery in BIOS, it worked fine for a month, now the battery indicator is flashing continuously and XP & Vista both are showing it as incompatible battery whereas 1 month ago, it was accepting it as compatible battery.

Notebook Details :

Make : Sony
Model : Vaio VGN-FZ25GN
BIOS : Phoenix R1120J7
Serial No. : 28209483-7000120
Sold By : Sony India

I am not able get any help in Sony Worldwide/Asia Pacific/India sites for specific issue.

Your help would be highly appreciated.

Regards,
Rupesh

sorry for the delay in response, it is a puzzling case by far. Can you describe what errors XP and vista show.

Thanks,

When I keep the battery connected, system does not boot up. If I remove the battery and start system using AC Power it boots up.

If I connect the battery while the system is ON and then battery LED starts blinking too fast.

In XP :
Power Settings says "Plugged in, Not charging." Battery status shows "Unknown Battery".

In Vista :
Power Settings says "Plugged in, Not Charging", and a message window pops up stating that the battery is not compatible and please click ok to send system in hibernate state.

Thanks,
Rupesh

My next assumption would be to reflash teh BIOS making sure the CMOS was cleared, but I find the whole thing strange. Who gave you this BIOS image?

Hi everybody,

I was wondering if anybody had a modded or original version of the bios R1120J7 for the Sony FZ21 series.

It's very hard to find an original copy and it would be nice to have features such as Dual IDA, unlocked BIOS options and SLIC.

Regards.

Hello again,

I managed to get a backup copy of the BIOS using Universal BIOS Backup tool.

HI ,

the backup can`t be flashed without the platform information.........this information is found in a similar bios file ( bios.wph )

it will be nice if you can find R1120J7.wph file............then i will modify it and you can successfully flash it .

i will try to find this file too .

OK, I have the infamous nvidia defect, my objective for posting here is to select the onboard (chipset) graphics instead of the faulty nvidia GPU in the BIOS.

Original BIOS (I hope! I'm a noob at this):

thanks!
