Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe Full AM3 Support
so the AMD Phenom II X4 945 Deneb 3.0GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache Socket AM3 95W Quad-Core Desktop Processor should work and be stable? Will I have to do any tweaking of timings, or should it be recognized right away?

No tweaking necessary for the 95w 945 the 5001 bios fully supports this chip. The only thing I did was to clear the bios.

I just got the 95w 945 w/ the 5001 bios, it recognized the chip, cleared the bios, and reset the 4 gig memory kingston hyperX pc800 back to the 4-4-4-12 timing Voltage to 2.0 and started up the system. Windows 7 gave me a BSD then made me run a system fix. No fix could be found after 20 min. The system rebooted Win 7 started up, found the new processor, ran shakey for about 20 min then froze.

I tried several things with the bios to correct it, nothing made it stable, so I put back in the athlon 64 x2 6000+, cleared bios, set memory back to pc800 voltage 2.0 4-4-4-12 settings again, win 7 made me do the system repair again, then ran for 20 min and froze again.

I changed the memory to default (pc 667? and put the voltage to auto) and now it running pretty stable....It's been running as pc800 as it should be for 5 years, do you think there is a problem with the RAM? I think this week I will will try installing the new cpu again and leave the memory at default. I have been thinking of getting the kingston hyperX PC1066 memory, any suggestions? Would love to get quad core on this PC with out reloading Win7, but know eventually i do want to take it up to the 64 bit version. So I will have to reload, it's just not a good time to do so. (but then again when is when you only have 1 PC? and you gave your backup one away since you never used it except for testing old hard drives?)

I am running at 667 for overclocking purposes. With the memory set at 667 I can increase the memory multiplier to giver me a stable overclock of up 3.45ghz without increasing the cpu voltages.

Is this update working for the AMD Phenom II X4 3.4GHz 965 Black Edition (HDZ965FBK4DGM) AM3 processor? I was hoping to buy it soon as I feel it's a very good CPU for the price, and I'm hoping it will drastically increase my ability to run higher end games than my current Athlon 64 x2 4800+ currently does.

I'd very much like some confirmation before I go ahead and purchase it. Thanks Smile

I have had problems using the 955 chip. I could not navigate the menus(usb and ps2 keyboard) in the bios and for some reason the only application that was affected was origin. Would not let me log in.

After an hour with tier 2 tech he informs me that the cpu is not officially supported and that the tech that I talked to before was confused (called to verify this cpu would work in my motherboard.) Now I have to get a new motherboard or a lesser cpu...

He then asked where I got my cpu so cheap because he wanted to upgrade. pfft.

Both 955 & 965 work alright with the M2N* boards.
Use the numerical keypad to navigate in the BIOS.

Hi all,
Great site just joined, lots of info.
My question is I havs the M2N-SLI Deluxe motherboard with a AMD Athlon 64 x2 Dual Core Processor 6000+.
With a GeForce 8800 GTS 512 Graphics Card.

I have ordered a AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition
Socket-AM3, Quad Core, 3,4Ghz, 8MB, 125W.

And also a HIS Radeon HD 6970 2GB GDDR5
PCI-Express 2.1, 2xDVI, HDMI, 2xmini-DisplayPort, HDCP

If I keep my GeForce card in the PC and install the new CPU (Processor)
Will I have to change anything using Nvidia Tools System i:e multiplier by nvidia tools
and voltage before I install.
the new HIS Radeon HD 6970 2GB GDDR5.
My Bios is updated to 5001.
Many Thanks for this great thread by the way,
just a little confused .
Any help would be Great,
Thanks,
Becks

I'm experiencing a weird issue with my m2n-sli deluxe motherboard any ideas how to resolve this:

I was able to flash BIOSes up till 1502 and since that version I haven't found a single BIOS version (tried 1702-5001) that could boot or install Windows. I always reset the BIOS to factory defaults after a flash and then manually reconfigure it back to my preferred settings. Doesn't make a difference even running it on factory defaults or custom settings thou. Tried both.

Windows 7 64-bit complains that there is something wrong with the USB driver, goes into the preboot fixing wizard and fails to fix it, Windows XP just hangs at the startup logo.

My USB keyboard works fine in all the BIOSes nor have I had any verification errors while doing the flashing from my trusty USB-stick with DOS & AWDFLASH on it.

I can POST all the newer BIOSes and boot to DOS to flash my 1502 image back, but I would really prefer being able to run a newer version of the BIOS to enable me to upgrade my CPU from Phenom X4 9850 -> something newer.

Any ideas what could be going wrong?

I have a Phenom II X4 945 95W that I just installed in my M2n-SLI Deluxe. I had the 1804 BIOS on it, but it wouldn't recognize the CPU correctly. So I downgraded it to the 5001 BIOS, and it recognized it fine. The only issue then was that I couldn't get into the BIOS with my USB keyboard, only a PS/2, and the arrow keys would not work either, only the number pad ones. So I changed the multipliers and voltage, so it wasn't 803 Mhz anymore but then it woundn't boot, it would only restart. So, I found the 1803AM3 modded BIOS, flashed it, and now everything is just fine after changing multipliers and my USB keyboard is fine too. The only issue I seem to have now is that Windows recognizes the CPU at 3.01 Ghz, but when I do the Windows assessment, it still says the CPU ranks at 3.7. My original Phenom 9600 I had before was faster for some reason... Any ideas?
