BIOS unlocking request: Acer TravelMate 250
#11
after i have looked deeply in your bios , i have found that i can unlock 41 options .
however , it seems impossible to keep the information menu ....i should delete it to keep the size of the module the same or it bricks your bios.
so , do you want the information menu OR i can unlock the options for you!!
it`s your choice ........and please note that the bios will have alot of manually unlocked options ( at least 40 options and 2 menus ) , so it`s normal to take alot of time from me and make me reply to the thread late .

i`m waiting your reply Smile

I'll wait Smile

Thanks man!!

EDIT: Can you change date of the BIOS Creation to 07-14-2011 ? Thanks again!

Hi ,

i`m so sorry for my late reply but i was trying to catch up with the other requests as well as i`m busy Big Grin

here is your modified bios image with unlocked 43 new options and 3 manually created menus ( cpu cntrol , IGD and intel advanced )..........these menus weren`t linked to any thing but i have linked them to the new options .

.rar   TRAVELMATE 250 MODIFIED BIOS.rar (Size: 858.14 KB / Downloads: 87)
i have replaced the information menu with the intel advanced menu .

you will find 2 bios file :- BIOS.WPH and BIOS 2.WPH

the first one BIOS.WPH contains all unlocked options but the bios creation date wasn`t changed .
the second one BIOS 2.WPH contains all unlocked options too but i have changed the creation date to 14 / 07 / 2011 as you requested that ALSO changed the model from acer travel mate 240 to acer travel mate 250 .

please flash your bios and tell me if this works well .

i`m waiting your reply and i`m sorry again for the delay Smile

I just opened BIOS 2.WPH in PBE, and I think that you have to reorganize a few items :/

Infact , itn`t easy as you think Big Grin
because i must keep the module chechsum the same or ir bricks your computer .
when i move any option , add option or delete option , the chechsum changes and it`s hard to adjust the chechsum for a module have 43 unlocked options and 3 new menus.
i will not find any free space to delete or replace in your bios to adjust the chechsum.
also if i made the module larger , it`s sure it would brick your computer.

the cpu controll menu has only 4 options ( 4 places for options ) and i can`t add more as there are no free bytes in this module.

when i try to move any option , it would change module chechsum and i can`t adjust it as there are no free bytes in your bios ( i used it all for unlocking the new menus )

i think this is all i can do right now in your bios OR it would brick your notebook if i tried to change the modules size .

There are some problems flashing BIOSes! WinPhlash Utility v1.7.0.16 (downloaded from this website) doesn't let me flash this, neither the Original BIOS! It says "Error -104 BIOS Update Failed! BIOS Checksum is incorrect"
I also tried a DOS Floppy Diskette with PH1614 and BIOS.WPH in it but it doesn't load DOS! I don't know why... Sad
I had to set "Legacy USB Support" to "Enabled" for detecting the USB Floppy drive correctly

I want to try to disable that "Verify BIOS Checksum" option in WinPhlash Utility, but I don't want to brick this PC!
Yes, it's a 8 years old computer, but it still works very well! Big Grin

When flashing acer bios from dos you should use the phlash16.exe that comes with your original bios files and any other version will gemerate error as the flash setting or parameters should be changed first .
try the original flash.

OK, but the problem is that DOS won't start! It just freeze on a black screen and the Floppy Drive doesn't work anymore!

i have searched in acer web site and found they don`t provide PHLASH16.EXE for this bios.
i have attached my phlash16.exe that works with my acer5536G .
you need to create a dos bootable usb stick and put the phlash16.exe with the bios.wph then flash .

.rar   phlash16.rar (Size: 61.31 KB / Downloads: 41)

if this failed and gives you error messages , use the flash commands to change setting before flashing the bios .
i didn`t have this commands now as this is not my notebook ( i saved all these commands in text file in my notebook Big Grin ) and i only get the phlash16.exe from my bios in acer web site .
please refer to this thread to knew all about the commands you want to use
