[REQUEST] ASUS N56VZ BIOS Unlock
#61
Quote:Sorry for that, can You please repeat dumping with "fpt -d backup.rom" command, cause i forgot that "fpt -d backup.rom -BIOS" dumps only BIOS region, and my problem is in another one. Full dump will be about 8.2-8.6 Mb.

And which BIOS ver do You have now?

I try without "BIOS" but without success, i post a screenshot.
p.s. I have v.2.16.

Yes, I see, it is an Intel protection for another BIOS regions. Special skills are required to unlock that, so don't mind Smile Thank You again!

Hi,

i recently was using a usb 3 hdd and i was not getting usb 3 speeds due to which i tried changing the preboot-xHCI option to "enable" from "auto" position(a probable solution i found on the net from intel).. since then i am not able to boot my notebook.

There is no display. The fans are running. the dvd rom is working , when i insert a dvd rom.. it tries to read it and then its led goes off. If i plug in a usb drive.. its led lights up for a second and then goes off.. i can hear the hdd spinning.. the power leds are working both, the one on the power button itself and on the front .When i plug in the charger the battery also starts to get charged.. and the amber light of battery in the front goes from amber to green as it should if the battery goes up to 95% charge rate..
Do all this indicate that my motherboard is dead?? i dont think so.. can you people suggest how can i recover my notebook?

I was not even playing with flashing the bios. only setting some options .. which ended up in this situation.

Can someone help me to get my notebook working? My notebook is N56VJ but its similar to N56VZ, only the bios has to be different. but recovery steps should be the same for both these models.

I had purchased this notebook in the US, but i am in india now and i dont trust the local indian companies which advertise to serve the asus international warranty.. given their bad reviews all over the internet. So some help in recovering would be invaluable.. because sending my notebook to the US is a big deal for me.

Thanks.

in continuation to my previous post..

please have a look at this video

I have removed the battery, and hdd and powering up the notebook like this:
ctrl+home pressed -> then plugging in the adapter -> pressing the power button.

the first time the dvd spins down after trying to boot, the keyboard backlight comes up again.. then it goes for a second try at the boot...
earlier to this,i was trying to do this with the hdd present. and in that case the dvd booting behaviour was like the second boot lookup in the video.. and thats all.. and there was just one boot lookup in that case.

Please suggest if this means a dead motherboard.. i dont really think so.. as i was just fiddling with the bios settings.

Any help for recovery?

i want to add that i tried to use a 4gb usb stick that you can see in the video.(i am struggling to find a <1gb flash disk. Sad ) but it did not work.. as seen in the video.. it just lights initially and then does not.. i did that even without the dvd rom and removing the hdd aswell.. but still no signs to flash from it.

please also refer this post of mine here

thanks!

There has to be some way to do it.

Recently I contacted the SetFSB programmer. He told me that he should know which the clock generator the laptop uses in order to add support. So I should unscrew and look for it. He said it is written somewhere around the cpu socket. But I don't know how to unscrew and take out the motherboard. Maybe Taynk can do it.

hi,as I known,only i7 3720qm 3740qm 3820qm 3840qm 3920xm and 3940xm can be overlocked.My laptop is n56vm and I want to get a 3720qm in it.
