Hi! I purchased a WWAN card for my ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 12 (model 21KC), and though it was listed on Lenovo's Parts Store as compatible and I purchased the exact part from Lenovo's parts store, no substitutions or , it boots to an "1802 Unauthorized network card is plugged in" error and doesn't progress past it.
It seems that Lenovo's website lies about the compatibility of the WWAN card with the 21KC, they should have listed it as compatible with the 21K
D model which comes pre-equipped with WWAN card and antennae, but they didn't.
I would much prefer to keep the card and gain WWAN compatibility through a BIOS patch if possible, than to return the card and simply have no WWAN capability.
I've uploaded the BIOS file extracted from Lenovo's BIOS updater for this model of machine here:
$0AN3Y00.FL1 (and
$0AN3Y00.FL2, just in case).
If you need a BIOS dump directly from the machine, I'll get the stuff to dump it from Amazon and provide it ASAP. (I assume I will need that anyway, in order to flash the patched BIOS, but if I can wait to purchase it, I'd like to.)
