[REQUEST] Lenovo Thinkpad T430 (G1ETxxWW) Whitelist Removal
Hi folks,

I've a bunch of question which are already solved in different threads - but I would like to get an okay by your guys that I understood it all right.

I would like to remove the whitelist of my thinkpad to install another WiFi Card.

I've a T430 with the bios version G1ETA5WW (2.65 ) -- 2014-04-15
Embedded Controller Version G1HT35WW (1.13)

What I get so far- its impossible to flash a custom BIOS without a hardware flasher. I found in the other Thread based on the s405 that I need a CH341A programmer and a SOIC8 SOP8 test clip to flash the BIOS. This should also fit for my chip - right?

In addition to that I need the proper BIOS file witout the whitelist. Are there differences between the several T430 models? I think the version does not matter, by using the hardware flasher a BIOS downgrade should be also possible.

Thanks in advance!
Best regards,

PLanB

Ok friend,
I haven't tried It before and now after many studies I can affirm that sometimes
BIOS Lock variable can Unlock Eeprom Chip, not Always, but We have to try !
You can try using Falseclock Method and Unlocking this Variable (Bios Lock) :

https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-R...-EFI-shell

setup_var 0x17F 0x00

Following this guide :

1. . . .
2. . . .
3. Take USB stick and format to FAT32
4. Create directory structure EFI\Boot
5. Download BOOTX64.EFI http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?81vegw2aw0pxcib
6. Put downloaded file to Boot directory.
7. Restart and enter BIOS setup.
8. Make sure you have following values:

Legacy Support: Disable
Secure Boot: Disable

9. Reboot and press F9 to boot from USB stick
10. Give command:

setup_var 0x17F 0x0

11. Reboot and you Windows should . . . get Eeprom Chip unlocked
12. REPORT RESULT HERE

So try It and after loading Windows get again result file and check about error 280
if It is present yet then only SPI PGM can do the jor otherwise W can reflash the Bios Mod !
Let me know

Okay... In general - What does the locked eeprom chip mean? Is it not flashable by a hardware flasher as well?

I read that ucupsz got it running (page 4 of the thread), can you tell me the difference please? Smile
Just to understand these things, I'm not into these bare metal stuff Big Grin

Anyway - thank you so far!

Eeprom Chip Write Protected can be flashed only by an HW SPI Programmer and many times
It not needs to desoldering nothing :
