[REQUEST] Lenovo X220 (8DETxxWW) Whitelist Removal

I suggest creating a bootable Windows PE on USB stick.

Thanks for these mods!

Is it possible to flash the 1.46 BIOS with the VBIOS from 1.43?  The squashed boot screen is driving me nuts Big Grin

Or I could just use 1.43 but then there's the security risk...

Sorry if this was already addressed. I'm new to the forum and BIOS mod upgrading. I need some advice. I have version 1.46 flashed from Lenovo website and now I'm trying to flash with the mod so I can access the higher ram speed. The instruction said to run the .bat file, but when I double-click on it the command prompt opens and nothing happens. I also tried running the file from command prompt and nothing happens.

Any help is much appreciated. Thanks!

I figured it out.

1) Rested Bios to original config (as mentioned from previous post)
2) Disable Bit-Locker encryption

Run the bat file by double clicking on it. It should work. It failed for about 3 times before finished.

I set the ram speed to 1600mHz (under Advance menu) to see if it works.  It is still showing 1333mHz under Windows task manager.  Maybe it's due the the default ram from the factory.  Will get faster RAM and see if it changes to a higher clock speed.

Hi, I am new to this forum and this thread.

I have recently acquired an X220 and stupid me didn't read all the documentations and did something stupid.  Here is where I am at and help would be appreciated:

I upgrade the BIOS straight to the whitelist version (1.46).  However, I now realized that the ECP is still v1.08 and not the current 1.24.  I tried to download but it was unsuccessful.  Is there any way I can rollback and then install the official BIOS (any version as long as ECP is 1.24), and then flash the custom 1.46 bios again?

The other problem is that I am running Windows 10 20.04 and for some stupid reasons, winflash64 just crash the system entirely, regardless of bios version.  I ran "sfc /scannow" and everything seems fine.  I just don't understand why winflash64 is crashing on me.

Hello. I just tried running the 1.46 full blown bios update by running WINUPTP.EXE but ran into a BSOD. I am currently on the full-blown 1.43 bios (memory and whitelist etc).

Before running WINUPTP.EXE I disabled Bitlocker. After confirming the BIOS update warning dialogs, I got to the actual updater. It got as far as backing up the old bios. But once it moved to the flashing of new BIOS the BSOD (blue screen of death) happened immediately. Once I restarted the computer I was still on 1.43.

What could cause this? My BIOS is password protected. Could that have an impact? Are there settings prohibiting update of BIOS? It seemed like the computer "saved" itself from the flashing by throwing a BSOD but this is only speculation. Any advice of what to check would be much appreciated.

"Verifying BIOS Fail! Reflashing" Confused

Yeah, I have the same thing when I flash from WinXP SP2 64-bit but the laptop works fine and has an advanced menu.
But in the WINFLASH.LOG file at the end, this is:
Code:
= 354a7a8
[0212/105653:INFO:utils.cpp(29)] Process verify start at 7C0000
[0212/105653:INFO:utils.cpp(29)] Process compare start

[0212/105653:INFO:utils.cpp(29)] Verify failed at FLA address: 7C0000

[0212/105653:INFO:utils.cpp(29)]
Verifying Bios Fail!!
[0212/105653:INFO:utils.cpp(29)] Programming flash ROM fail.

P.S. Does anyone use a bios unlocked X220 with eGPU via ExpressCard or PCIe and could check this:

Hello,

I have full blown modded v1.46 BIOS but it says unauthorised wlan card when i install INtel 7260HWM card.

Edit: Just rolled back to 1.45 original BIOS. Then 1.46, then 1.46 full blown and now its working just perfectly.

Thanks for the quick reply Smile
