Request for Whitelist removal on HP Pavillion dv2415us -- Phoenix Bios
#1
Hello everyone,

I'm glad to hear about all of those who got their bios working without the dreaded whitelist!

I was wondering if someone could remove whitelist from HP/Phoenix bios version F.3b or F.34, either or, doesn't matter...for an HP Pavillion DV2415US.

Also, can someone assure me, if I mess up something, will this laptop model be able to recover using Phoenix recovery, because I hear that HP made some laptops not accept the crisis recovery disk for some reason.

Thanks to everyone, I'm really looking forward to getting this to work!

EDIT:

Sorry, forgot to add links...
The latest is F.3b here, ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp39001-39500/sp39371.exe

F.34 is here, ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp36001-36500/sp36219.exe

Ok, so I think I may give it a try myself. Can someone tell me where the recovery feature is in the bios? I'd like to make sure it's there before I build.

Ok, thanks for your response...take your time.

Here are the ID's from OLD card(Intel 3945ABG)

PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_4222&SUBSYS_135B103C&REV_02
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_4222&SUBSYS_135B103C
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_4222&CC_028000
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_4222&CC_0280

Also do you know how I can tell if my laptop has the feature to use Phoenix bios recovery? I've read that it may not be able to, but I have no way to be sure.

THANK YOU!

Justin

I cant mod this bios as i usually did, the only thing that can be done is to replace an unused pci id by yours.
you can do it by replacing 8086 4227 (86 80 27 42) at 2 places in BIOSCOD3.rom by your VEN DEV (unknown) id card.
Concerning bios recovery i cant help you.
regards.

Okay thank you, I'll try to research the recovery issue on my own. However, here are the ID's for the NEW card I wish to install...if you get a chance, can you please mod the bios for me and I will report back to you:

PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4315&SUBSYS_000B1028&REV_01
PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4315&SUBSYS_000B1028
PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4315&CC_028000
PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4315&CC_0280

EDIT: if you take a look under the MultiBoot III menu, you can see that "Boot Fail Recovery" is unchecked in both F.34 and F.3b...do you think it's worth a try to check it off and recompile and try to flash with that?...Also is it normal to get so many errors when initially opening the .WPH in Phoenix Bios Editor?

Thanks again!

Justin

VEN_14E4&DEV_4315 in replacement of VEN_8086&DEV_4227 in BIOSCOD3.rom module
and for free: SLIC 2.1

HP Pavillion dv2415us_sp39371.zip

note: using "Phoenix BIOS Editor" is the best way to brick your laptop.

they have same date, they are identical, that mean this mod is not working. i'v spend too many hours on it and not found how to patch the whitelist algorithm.
Or the PCI ID you gave me for new card is wrong.

Well, I thank you very much, if I ever figure it out, I'll let you know. One more question...was the Subsys changed as well?
