[REQUEST] Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon Gen3 (2015) (N14ETxxW) Whitelist Removal
#21
(07-06-2018, 04:04 AM)Mandastar Wrote: Hi at all,

i would like to request a whitelist removal as i would like to upgrade my INTEL 7265NGW to an INTEL 8265NGW WIFI Card. The new card should arrive within a few days.

I hope that the informations i provide are sufficient:

1. Newest BIOS (1.26):   https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/de/de/produ...s/DS101953

Note: I am on BIOS 1.25. Maybe it will be easier if its an upgrade??

2. Current PCI ID:  PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_095B&SUBSYS_52108086&REV_59

I hope that someone can help me. If you need anything else,  i will try an provide it.

Thank you!

PS: I know that this is not the right thread, but is it possible to enable nvme SSDs on this notebook?
Hi
Your bios is rewrite protected
Bios mod can be flashed using SPI-programmer+SOIC8 clip only

Oh well.
I dont think that this invest would make sense for a small performance boost.

Thank you nevertheless!

Do you know by chance anything about Modding the BIOS to enable Boot with NVMe Drives, which are sadly not approved by the BIOS?

Thank you in advance for any kind of answer.

Hi all,

I currently have the same laptop, but running a lower BIOS version (1.13 - https://download.lenovo.com/pccbbs/mobiles/n14ur12w.iso) and wanted to upgrade to an Intel 9265 wifi card.

The PCI information for my current card:

Code:
➜  ~ lspci | grep -i "intel.*.wireless"

04:00.0 Network controller: Intel Corporation Wireless 7265 (rev 99)

Would I be able to modify my BIOS to support the new card? Not sure if it matters, but I am running Linux.

Thanks!

Fortunately, I have access to a SPI-programmer so just need to get a SOIC8 clip though.
What would be the process given that I have the necessary hardware? I imagine I'd have to disassemble the firmware image using IDA and look for where to modify the assembly or does the community already have an automated way of doing this?

Thanks!

Hey There,
I have this laptop, from Lenovo, for which I bought a Sierra EM7455, instead of the factory EM7355.
Originally my model did not have a WWAN CARD! (Also, how am I supposed to check up the PCI ID?)

The EM7455 only shows up as generic WWAN card, even with the proper drivers, therefore I am guessing it is possibly a whitelist issue?
As paralell I am also trying to enable NVME, for which I opened another post, I'd be more happy if someone could tell me how to do it, and maybe link a proof of concept that I can verify?

Here is a clean BIOS dump made with an EEPROM programmer (CH341a/SOIC8)
