[REQUEST] Lenovo G580 (5ECNxxWW) Whitelist removal
(12-26-2015, 07:25 AM)BDMaster Wrote: I replied in PM but You didin't say the real issue like here !
You Bricked
Try this :

8821

1, copy ZIVY2.bin files to the U packing list and ensure no suffix in the directory name to bin the relevant documents (U disk formatted as fat or FAT32, no guide information)
2, shut down and unplug the battery, power adapter
3, insert U disk
4, do not put down the FN+R hotkey
5, insert power adapter
6, starting
7, the release of FN+R hotkey
8, the system automatically, until the end of the sound, the system will automatically restart and normal boot (this process must not be cut off!)

Recovery File to use :

OK, now its read something from U disk about 10-20 seconds, but it turns off about 2 mins after that. If I power on the notebook, its still beep once with blank screen. I tried with FAT and FAT32, various filenames and extensions (bios.bin, QIWG5.bin, WinG5901.bin, .rom, .fd, .wph). I copied all the files to U disk root folder.

Try this :

1. 1. on a clean USB Flash Drive is formatted FAT16 or FAT32 file record KIUN0113.ROM, renaming it KIUN0.BIN
2. 2. disconnect power and remove the battery
3. 3. press and hold Fn + B
4. 4. Connect the power supply and press the power
5. 5. release Fn + B
6. 6. recovery process will begin to load the BIOS image in memory
7. 7. computer is beeping every 2 seconds - a process of flash BIOS
8. 8. computer shuts down automatically
9. 9. you have been saved

Same result with Fn + B or Fn + R.

Read from USB Flash Drive -> no beeping every 2 seconds -> shut down.
Power on -> Beep once with blank screen.

Hi!

Ok! But before this, I ask my friend about this, He work in a local PC repair company. Maybe He can reflash the BIOS.
If not, I buy this tool. Fortunately it's not too expensive.
I will not be here this week, I must leave from home to work.
So, see You later.

Thank You for sacrificing your time on me!

Hello, I'm new to the forums. I have a Lenovo g580 model 20150 with Win 10 Home clean installed after an upgrade from pre installed Win 8.1.
The bios is 5ECN96WW(V9.01) with the motherboard stated as "INVALID (U3E1)" in speccy, possibly due to parts I replaced or from upgrading to Win 10 from what I read around. I was trying to upgrade the wifi card for a better one and noticed this thread while looking around. I had a few questions regarding this bios mod before proceeding.
1. Is this removal of wifi whitelist considered a particularly dangerous mod? While most of the people who requested didn't seem to have problems from the mod BDMaster gave them, the last poster seemed to have quite a bit of problems.
2. It seems that each person has to upload their own bios backup and get a modified whitelist removed bios specifically for their own laptop. Is there a reason for this?
3. I understand that SLIC 2.1 signiture in the bios is the key to get OEM Win 7 on computers. The laptop only seems to have the win 8.1 key embded, but would it be possible to add SLIC 2.1 at the same time with whitelist removal? While Win 10 Home by far better than 8.1, I'd prefer to have Win 7 installed on the computer.
4. would doing the whitelist removal with or without adding SLIC 2.1 remove the win 8.1 key from the bios?
5. Finally, what would be the best way to backup my bios so I can upload and get the modified bios?
I'm sorry if these are a lot, or are dumb questions in general. I know better than the average person regarding computer repair and re installation, but hacking and modding things like bios is beyond my knowledge. Thanks for whoever answers me in advance. oh and a bit late Happy New Years!
