I will test it now.

The Marvell controller now shows 1.0.0.1038. How can I verify the rest?

I'll take that as it's working.  I cannot suggest testing procedures as I do not own the same board.  but basically if the device works, then it's running the OROM that is packaged in the BIOS.

I messed up the Marvell OROM in the first run. but the replacement had it done correctly.  The Marvell controller is odd that it writes the firmware to the Marvell controller on first boot.  You keep that firmware until a BIOS change forces another flash to the controller.   SO you still showed 1.0.0.1033 because that first update failed.

The revised BIOS shows that the Marvell 9128 is 1.0.0.1038. Everything seems well now. Our motherboards use the last Intel RST 11.x driver. I was already running the latest drivers for Marvell, Intel NIC, JMicron and Intel RST. However, the Intel RST program doesn't work. I think I remember hearing there was a bug in the last 11.x.

At this point, I think our next step for our X58 boards is to upgrade to a new build....unless I can get my hands on the UD9 board by Gigabyte. However, searching didn't turn up one.

I have come to realize that the 2nd release has some issues with the NIC. When I put a high network load on my machine, it acts really buggy and strange making the computer seem like it's locking up and unstable. I reverted back to the previous MOD that was done before you came along and the network issue is gone. How about modding the BIOS to be at the previous NIC release and upgrading the rest?

Hey guys, my first post here. Thank you for all your work! Anybody notice a performance increase with the newest Marvell 91xx SATA 6G Controller firmware as oppose to the last one ASUS officially included in their 903 BIOS which gave poor speeds similar to Sata II?

Just curious because that is the main reason I would update.

I had the same problem as post #39.
PC Froze after updating ATA, and I had to reboot. It seems it reloaded the old Bios 0903 9/20/11 after the reboot.

I tried one more time and it seems it worked.

Going to try it on my board now, I'll post the results after testing. Thank you for making the bios.

Good news first: It updated my Marvel Controller Firmware and I updated the saltest driver in Windows

Bad News: No increased performance even though both of my Crucial SSD's are now showing 6Gpbs

Worst News: Constant Lockups and freezing. Need to revert back

Just an update. Messing with it again, I flashed back to stock and then reflashed this modded bios. Controller is at the 1038 as before but strangely it is now stable... Go figure...

No real performance increase. I used UserBench to test. Scroll down and look at the SSD ranking. This stayed the same from stock bios to modded with updated controller firmware and drivers. This is a limitation of the hardware...
