(UEFI) Dell XPS 15z L511z modded BIOS - and HOWTO
yeah, go for it ^^

this is what I did on mine

PlatformSetupAdvancedDxe.efi

00 29 02 29 02 0A 82 45 8A 00 to 00 29 02 29 02 0A 82 45 8A 01 (two ocurrences )

00 20 00 29 02 0A 82 45 8A 00 to 00 20 00 29 02 0A 82 45 8A 01 (one ocurrence)

00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 45 0A to 01 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 45 0A (three or more ocurrences)

SystemSetupSecurityDxe.efi

0A 82 45 8A (00) 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 45 0A to 0A 82 45 8A (01) 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 45 0A (two ocurrences)

I modified all of them and the results were really nice Tongue

Hi Guys,

Just wanted to let you know that you can get PFlash.efi (and also the latest pflash.exe/WinFlash.exe I'm aware of) from the following package:

http://support.j2rs.com/225_625/BiosTool.zip

Cheers

And I did it, big thanks to kasar, jkbuha and all the team.

Now I have unlocked the menus, and when i select the "Primary Display Adapter" I am prompted to 4 options;
IGD, PEG, PCI and AUTO

I tried the 4 of them, and none changed the fact that intel is the primary GPU.

Can anyone please advice?

mmm, not sure, wich was the option by default?

I think someone in my modded l502x bioses topic said changing those options caused the laptop to not boot and he needed to reset the settings by removing the cmos battery.

to jkbuha and timewalker.

wich was the module and hex strings to modify to mod the speed steep module?

I think we have to start grouping the info, we have many of it split along this topic ^^

quid,
It's Christmas comes early for us! Thanks for providing the link! It's indeed the UEFI Shell Flash Utility used to flash the BIOS reguralry. If it executes shell on crisis boot and then shell looks for startup.nsh then it's a bingo!
We will just have to write the startup.nsh .. without /silent to hear the beeps from the flashing process. Also the CrisisRecovery module should be extracted from the fw, which is platform dependant should I assume. Then goes the .fd file which is our FvRecovery.fd presumably, will have to compare sizes and contents again... but this now sounds more promising!

@kasar - the module is powermanagement2.efi

@timewalker - great news! looking at the file now - do you need any help from my end?

Will get home in a couple of hours and take a deeper look.

thks jkbuha ,

found that module, wich changes did you made to the module?

00 29 02 29 02 0A 82 45 8A 00

00 20 00 29 02 0A 82 45 8A 00

00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 45 0A

tried looking for those hex strings without result.

No it's even easier. It's a conditional jump statement which we need to fix.

Search for "75 08 0F BA E8 0F and replace 75 with EB.
