Sorry for a noob(ish) question, but as I'm familiar with flashing a bios update trough the bios itself from a storage device (such as a flash drive). Your's is an .exe file. I'm just asking if there are any issues with this flasher tool and Windows 8.1 (as it's generally not supported anywhere properly).

Hi friend,
this is a v.1.06 Bios and InsydeFlash has ths settings into platfom.ini file :

[Bios_Version_Check]
Flag=0
;This flag is the switch of checking BIOS version.
;Flag default : 2.
; 0 : Don't check rom file version.
; 1 : Check BIOS version.
; When rom file version is older then BIOS, it will display
; a warning message and close application.
; 2 : Depend on BIOS report.

So don't care about actual version.
Your laptop is went with Win8 on-board ? as if You will change Bios You'll loose Win8 Activation (Serial) and GPT partition !
Let me know
which Bios version You have please !

The laptop was shipped with BIOS version 1.08 and Windows 7 Home Premium which was later upgraded to Windows 8 manually.
Currently the hard drive is in MBR format.

EDIT: Flash was successful on Aspire 5749 running Win 8.1 after disabling F-Secure for a moment.

Acer Aspire 5349 unlock bios

Hello everyone.
is it possible to adjust the bios to set the speed of RAM to 1600Mhz or to 1333Mhz? It would be great if RAM will run at least 1333Mhz because the laptop has integrated graphics and faster RAM would increase its performance.
It has prosesor  i7 - 2710QE that supports ram speed 1600 Mhz, also chipset HM 65 supports 1600 Mhz. I've tried various processors i3, i5 and  moduls either 1333Mhz or 1600Mhz in single and dual chanel and laptop still running at 1066Mhz. I have the latest BIOS Insyde V1.08 EFI and it would be nice to unlock a wider settings of bios.
Thanks for your help.

Thank you very much.
I have flashed the bios and this one is very good. I've set the RAM to 1600 MHz and graphics performance increased by 8%. I'm pleased for unlocked settings options in bios as well. Just a little pity that settings of the fan doesn't work. I tried to change all the parameters in the BIOS and nothing changed - fan behaved same. Also just a little pity that I had previously bios V1.08 and this is V1.06.
I do not know what significant differences are between them.
Thanks again and take care.

Tomas.
