Dell Inspiron 530 / 530s v1.0.2 Experimental Unlocking & Upgrading Project
HELP!

i have found alot of good information in this long thread, but not sure everything is good for me.

Background, i have a Dell 530, replaced the FoxConn G32M03 with the G33M03 so i could run a quad processor. everything works, but i cannot update the video drivers due to the BIOS not being the most current, i think its like 1.0.18. i get a BIN error when i try to run the BIOS update.

From where you downloaded the BIOS that you are trying to flash ?

from Dells update center and then read that i should download manually outside of Dell's program and it gave the same error.

Use BIOS from this forum. If you wish to use BIOS from DELL - use DELL forum.

that would be great if i could. first the BIOS update from here appears to be for XEON. Mine is FoxConn

Secondly i cant use Dell's, as i posted the reason why.

im really looking for help if possible.

Haha...finally figured it out! Updated to the latest dell BIOS and then used the instructions from post #93.

https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-Dell-Inspiron-530-530s-v1-0-2-Experimental-Unlocking-Upgrading-Project?pid=83651#pid83651

It is confirmed to be working on my g33m02 (rev01) mobo (Dell Inspiron 530s)

----too bad i can't run the xeons =...(

I had recently upgraded to 8gbs of total memory(i bought all brand new sticks from a local computer store) they were listed as 667...turns out they are clocked for 800mhz....I was very frustrated to see that they post on the BIOS and all memory is read, yet it was not being accepted by windows.....this mod fixed that and i now have 7.24/8.00 gbs available ram in windows...i'm not sure why....but it definitely helped. I had read somewhere that the memory was limited by my processor(because mine is a 32-bit E2160 1.8ghz Intel).....i don't think this should fix it....but i don't give a f***....it does and it posts!!!

This breathes new life into my little file server =D! I was close to scrapping the project altogether >.>

Now if someone could come up with a mod for a xeon......or a newer processor....that would be legit....

Hi there everyone! I know this thread is rather old however seeing as its still relatively alive and kicking I thought I'd post some feedback.

I used the BIOS from Dansolo on page 3 to flash using the files from post 42

I have a Inspiron 530S and used DellInspiron530-18-RAID87-IBA1363-AHCI120E0027-VGA1653.zip and its worked with no problems at all!
It has unlocked many new settings, has given a new boot screen and should prove useful when I finally put an SSD in it.

I'd like to say a huge thanks to everyone on the forums who made doing this possible and to keep up the great work. Thanks! Big Grin

Sorry for the necrobump, I just scored a 530 with a q6600/4gbram for a $100, and was wondering one thing: to flash the bios is it possible to do it with just awdflash and forcing or do i need to do it in windows only like in the earlier post mentions? I was planning to straight up make it a hackintosh build but i'll have to find a copy of windows if i cant flash with awdflash. Thanks!
