[REQUEST] Lenovo IdeaPad Y580 (5DCNxxWW) Unlock BIOS

Hello all,
just found out about this site, great site guys and gals very informative and thank you all for all the work you do for us here.
Anyhows I would like to ask if anyone could unlock this bios for me, very limited considering its supposed to be a gaming machine. This is the first insydel bios I have ever seen so not sure how to dump it. I looked at lenovos website to link it but they have no bioses listed for this machine. The bios number is 5DCN37WW(v2.04). Thank you in advance and let me know how to dump the bios if you need it, so I can send it to you. thank you

I'd also like to see this BIOS modified to have more settings. I noticed that there has been a 2.03 and 2.04 BIOS mentioned. I have a 2.05 BIOS and will upload with pictures(To comply with this) once I'm on my Windows partition.

I see the old y570 has an unlocked bios.

I would also like to see an unlocked y580 bios soon.

I need the graphics options.
Lenovo tweaked the bios so that when the laptop lid is closed, it does not automatically switch to external monitor.

you have to press Fn F3, or Win+P. I don't like that.

I would like to see it changed to default behavior.


I can't open the setup utility with ezh20 tool. there is no option to see the advanced menu. How do you view the advanced menu options?


I tried the universal bios backup toolkit on my 2.03 bios, and comparing with hexeditor, it's very different from compuguy's 2.03 bios. We have different hard drives, and all that stuff is dumped into the output file.
So I don't think everyone can use these bios files.

the y480 (little brother) has a bios to download, but it looks encrypted. not the same laptop though. bios not interchangeable.

What version are you using? I had to find 2.1.0.13 for a "Setup Menu..." option to appear in Other. It's no use though, as it will give this error:

me too I like a unlocked bios.
I have a LENOVO-5DCN36WW(V2.03)
look like there is a 2.04 and a 2.05 version as well.
maybe it's better to wait for an untouched bios from Lenovo? (when they will update)

Please, could you unlock network hardware LAN enable at boot and WOL magic packet.
and all that is possible to unlock...

WOW .. this bios is so crippled.. can't enable network when with rescue disc
for Back up and no WOL option.. so much missing.
Will do a bios back up soon.

I too would like an unlocked Bios for the Y580. I would like to use the Intel Centrino 6235 wifi card. I'm on bios 2.04. I couldn't attach the rom due to file size regulations on this site. Thanks so much!
