[REQUEST] Lenovo ThinkPad T560 WWAN Whitelist Removal
#1
I would like to request whitelist for my Lenovo T560 BIOS.  I am trying to use a Sierra Wireless AirPrime EM7455 in this unit.  Just because its not stamped "Lenovo" I get the 1802 Error when I put it in, but it is the right compatible part!
Original BIOS files live here:
https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=71C9CA5E31C7D04!113215&authkey=!ANS-NmEJiEwZqlQ&ithint=file%2cFL1
https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=71C9CA5E31C7D04!113214&authkey=!ADQIbVarbdSo1Pk&ithint=file%2cFL2

Please let me know if you need more info, first time asking here!

Hello!

I'm wanting to install an NVME SSD in the WWAN slot, but the BIOS does it's "unauthorized card" bullshit.

I've already got a working Programmer with SOIP-8 clip, and dumped the existing BIOS with BIOS password and intrusion detection disabled.

I've tried using tools and resources found online to perform the modification myself, but I'm not having any luck.

I've been working off this - https://github.com/digmorepaka/thinkpad-...re-patches

Can someone either tell me what resources I need to be reading to do this myself, or perform the alteration on this ROM image?

Thanks!

I figured out what I was doing wrong (There's no TPM hash fixing required on this machine, and doing it breaks the BIOS), and the machine now POSTs with my modified BIOS. Unfortunately, the Whitelist is still in effect, so the Whitelist patches from https://github.com/digmorepaka/thinkpad-...hes_v1.txt don't work.

The full whitelist error is:

1802: Unauthorized network card is plugged in - Power off and remove the network card.

Hi
In the previous post, your original dump?

Hi
In the previous post, your original dump?

The dump posted is the original dump from the BIOS ROM chip, nothing altered. Apologies for the confusion.

No joy, BIOS still refuses to boot due to whitelist error 1802

I think the patch from github is good. There is an additional driver with whitelist, BdsMilestone. I didn't touch it. And "xx60_patches_v1.txt" patches just one, LenovoWmaPolicy driver.

So Dudu2002 managed to break the whitelist, but unfortunately no joy with the SSD. It seems that the WWAN socket on this machine is wired for USB only (As the Lenovo-approved LTE modules are USB-only devices).

I'm not sure how the BIOS was detecting the NVMe SSD to block it at boot, but there's no trace of any PCIe device connected to the machine with the whitelist removed.

If someone reading this in the future wants to install a non-approved LTE module, and it's a USB over M.2 device, hit up Dudu2002 - he should be able to hook you up!
