I did plenty of research and did all my checks and realised this unlocked bios is used by all the models mentioned in the post earlier. Having done all the stringent checks I decided to take the plunge and flash my BIOS on my Packard Bell Easynote TS11HR and it all went well.
I can go as far as saying yes this modded/unlocked BIOS is neat in many ways and I notice the improved stability and speed.
Only problem I have is Clover Bootloader on USB does not see my OS X partitions.
A workaround is to load Clover USB (UEFI Mode) an open UEFI Shell then load refind and load clover again and I can natively boot Mac OS X 10.7.5 and OS X 10.8.2.
This could be a clover issue but I am having doubts that this is because the UEFI is still incomplete
Also I feel the UEFI module or modules still need work because I converted my HDD from MBR to GPT using rod smith's gpt fdisk and added EFI SYSTEM PARTITION. I copied bootmgr.efi and bootmgrw.efi to (ESP)/efi/microsoft/boot/ also ran windows 8 RE in UEFI mode to repair my bcd. Here's the interesting part! Now strangely enough this got detected in the BIOS as Windows Boot Manager. Usually you would manually write this to the NVRAM or the installer would do this for you. having said that I have clover, refind, and refit all in my EFI System partition and I am unable to add this to the boot options. I tried to boot into ubuntu in UEFI mode and got kernel panics using ubuntu 10.10, 11.01 and 12.04.1 also when I boot into ubuntu using bios mode efibootmgr does not work! it says: - Fatal: Couldn't open either sysfs or procfs directories for accessing EFI variables. I do not want to loose my windows boot loader for clover as I use windows as main OS so i didn't bother renaming cloverx64.efi file.
Does this bios contain boot manager also why does the windows entry show up as unknown device? I do not mind testing or writing code to get this to work just that I am not a programmer so I was not manually able to unlock/disassemble this BIOS using IDA, a short guide would be nice. I got stuck after opening the setupPE as the contents did not match up with the one found on the guide I was following.
any ideas?
Kind Regards,
Ash
