you can try...

are you sure your other board has a mountable / plugable eeprom bios chip?

are the chips of the same model, or of the same size?
you could try a hot swap, meaning. you boot the other board, go under FREEDOS, then unplug the bios chip, plug the bricked chip, and then start the DOS command to flash the chip. when done, you switch off, take the bios chip out and try on the nettle 3

I have the other board mcp61pm-hm rev 1.1 and it has no 8 pin chip the boards are slightly different but working and running win 7 ultimte

just need to find a way to re program stock bios via usb? is it possible

Good morning from Argentina! I buy an cheap EEPROM Programmer USB and can flash a 1MB chip from another dead motherboard with the .bin file. Happy to say that it´s working at first try. 30 seconds to program the chip and ready to install S.O. I´m posting from an Athlon II X2 250, Nettle 3. Smile

I know this is a little over decade old thread but having trouble trying to flash the my MCP61PM-GM Ver: 2.2.

Trying the Ubuntu live CD and its its coming up an error in the terminal when i try the "sudo apt-get install subversion" command. So tried skipping that and going onto the "Ubuntu software center" for the "Linux PCI Utilities" for the development files and error again, guessing cause that has been gone since 2016. So i looked and found the PCI Utilites package (least the one i think i need and put it on a flash drive but dont know how to add them)

Do i need to actually install Ubuntu on the computer for this to be a success? Have a 1045T coming in the mail tomorrow and want it in this Emachine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I did get this to flash on my Emachines ET1331G-03w (MCP61pm-gm Ver:2.2). Did winflash and forced it. Had to reinstall windows 7 afterwards (im pretty sure its how i did the flash as to why i had to reinstall windows). Also i did this so i could get the 1045T on this board.

Here is the most recent unlocked BIOS for the HP Nettle 3:

Update from kev711, Award moderator, who has provided a working instruction set and BIOS tested on V 2.2

THIS IS IT WORKING BIOS FOR Nettle3 MCP61PM-HM v2.1 and 2.2

PRIMARY:
GeForce6100PM-M2 (V7.0/V7.1) http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Product...20&LanID=9

SECONDARY:
Update - Users have been reporting problems with this image, flash at your own risk. The one above should work fine.
DOES NOT WORK for V 2.2 of this board.

NEW TEST BIOS:
See http://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-HP...ns?page=28&highlight=nettle3

Support 95W Phenom™ II X6 processors
4 x Serial ATA 3.0Gb/s devices
RAID0, RAID1, RAID0+1, RAID5 configuration

Overclock with Ntune System Tools to find more settings http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_syst..._6.10.html

Also hit Ctrl + F1 in bios for more unhidden BIOS features

TESTED CPU's
AMD AM2+ Phenom x4 9150e 1.8GHz 65w
AMD AM3 Athlon II 245 2.9GHz 65w -OVERCLOCKED with Nvidia System Tools to 3.4GHz
AMD AM3 Phenom II x4 3.4GHz C3 125w BLACK EDITION Passed Prime95

CAUTION: IF using a (CPU) Processor higher than 95w you will need to UPGRADE to an AFTERMARKET Heatsink. The one that came stock with the HP/COMPAQ computer is not good enough for a high wattage processor

To clarify the instructions on Linux Using Ubuntu Live CD (11.04) (RECOMMENDED FLASH PROCEDURE)

Have files on flash drive...

open terminal
sudo apt-get install subversion
Ubuntu software center (search libpci)
install Linux PCI Utilities (Development files)

Now do (in terminal):
svn co svn://coreboot.org/flashrom/trunk flashrom
cd flashrom
make
sudo make install

navigate to flash drive in terminal: (mine was located at /media/745B-FD7D):
cd /media/{your dir}

backup old bios
sudo flashrom -r bios.bak (will store in curent directory)

now sudo flashrom -f -w BIOS.ROM (or whatever you named it)

run command again if it doesn't take the first time. Then you are done

Thanks,

Hello everyone

For information, no one said it but :

MCP61PM-HM v2.1 is only for 65w CPU (I tested 95w phenom 9650 with v8.0 ROM from ECS and it results with no bios/post)

MCP61PM-HM v2.2 is for 95w or higher
