[OFFER] Acer Aspire E5-572G Modded Bios
#31
@Karlodun

No, this BIOS won't work with your laptop.
This is for Acer Aspire E5-572G notebooks only, while you have an Acer Aspire E5-752G notebook.
I've added an post in the thread where a ModBIOS for the E5-752G notebook is offered: https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-A...#pid126325
You may try to flash the ModBIOS from that thread with the filename in the linked post.
If that doesn't work, the recovery of your notebook probably checks the signature of the BIOS and there's nothing I can do about that.

In that case, something like this might still work (needs to be adapted): http://www.geektech.co.nz/how-to-unlock-...enovo-y700

The according setting in your BIOS:
0x1C40B             Setting: SVM support, Variable: 0xEE {05 91 54 02 55 02 54 00 34 12 EE 00 00 10 00 01 00}
0x1C41C                 Option: Disabled, Value: 0x0 (default) {09 07 27 00 10 00 00}
0x1C423                 Option: Enabled, Value: 0x1 {09 07 28 00 00 00 01}
0x1C42A             End of Options {29 02}

Oh, thanks! Somehow I just followed google and did not notice the difference... I will check/recheck the threads you mentioned....

Also, I've already started working on an updated ModBIOS that will have the settings to reduce bricking risk enabled by default.
The basics work fine already and I'm currently just looking into further improvements.
As the available EzH2O tool doesn't work with the BIOS of this notebook (and there's no other tool to do this either), I had to do this the manual way which took quite some time. Some other useful changes will be included as well.

Hello @mclarke2355,
Sorry for the late response, once again thanks for the support and of course you have +1 reputation from me for all your work in this thread.
I had some time to work on my laptop and I can say that 1.09c BIOS is excellent . The video card goes smoothly at over 1400MHZ(GPU) and i would like to know if it's possible to bump the slider in MSI Afterburner even more ( to 1500 MHz or more.. ) ? In GPUz my GeForce 840M is reported as over 90 % ASIC...
Also i would like to change the wireless network card on the laptop with this : http://ark.intel.com/products/75439/Inte...ss-AC-7260 will it work, will it be recognized in BIOS ?
The Intel 3160/Intel 3165 which is supported from version 1.06 BIOS seems to be nowhere on stock ...

Hi @Wollff,
glad that you like the BIOS!
The next BIOS version that I'm currently working on will make further overclocking of the GPU possible.
I'm quite far already, so I will hopefully be able to release it in a few days.
I can also write a guide at some point on how to adapt the VBios of the GPU to use the desired clocks. That way it wouldn't be necessary to use extra software for this after the initial testing.

As for the wireless card, while I can't guarantee that it will work, I am rather confident that it will work properly with this notebook as there doesn't seem to be a whitelist used by Acer for this model. Also, I've read that someone has successfully used another card (Broadcom BCM94352HMB) with this notebook already (for a Hackintosh; the link's unfortunately not available anymore).
While searching a bit I've also read of people successfully using the AC-7260 card in notebooks that officially only support the AC-3160 card, so there's a pretty good chance that it will work.

I was thinking the same, I will probably order Intel 7260 while it is in stock . I'm not sure if the stock antennas are enough or should they be switched for for better speed .

Hello!

Thanks for this BIOS. Flashed and works wonderfully, great work! Some options tend not to enable for me, for example quiet boot is always on.

How easy would it be to replace the Acer boot logo with a custom one?

Thanks

EDIT: Just realised that the left-side USB 3 port doesn't seem to work. It outputs power but does not detect a usb drive.

I'm attempting to install OS X on this machine, will report back later with results.

@jamie xx

Hi,
glad you like the modded BIOS!

- Some of the options don't work because Acer didn't implement them properly, there's unfortunately nothing I can do about that.

- There's no easy-to-use tool for replacing the logo of this BIOS, but I think that replacing the logo should be possible manually. I'll take a look at it when I have some time.

- The left-side USB3 port works just fine for me with this BIOS, connected usb drives to it quite often already.
If you changed some BIOS settings, they might be the cause of this problem.
To rule out a hardware-error, you can flash back to the original 1.09 BIOS: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B4NHIBM...JUSDQ/view
Just use the Z5WAWX64.FD file in that archive with the flashing procedure from the first post.

- Regarding OS X, here they have a configuration pack for this notebook: http://www.osxlatitude.com/edp/compatibility/
It's for OS X 10.10, but it should be a good starting point nevertheless.
I also wrote a bit about OS X here: https://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-O...#pid122043
The github repo I linked to in that post had configuration files for OS X 10.11 as well, but it is unfortunately not available anymore and I didn't make a backup at that time.

Thanks! I already ordered a new WiFi card and fixed the USB issue. I ended up not needing a boot pack (from that link) the Installer booted beautifully once created with UniBeast. However, now that it's installed, I'm having trouble with the keyboard and audio driver (and the graphics driver is buggy) but I'm sure I'll get it fixed eventually.

Hi , first of all , sorry for my really bad english Sad
I have used your bios mod and love it from there,thank you so much^^. But 1306,5MHz of the GPU clock seem doesn't enough for me Big Grin , i would like to add some voltage to it so i can overlock the GPU more ( i'm currently run at 1442 (1306,5 + 135MHz overlock from msi afterburner with 67 to 68 degree celsius @ full load) )
=>my question is :I want to add some voltage and change the default GPU clock , could you help me known how to do this ? (do you think how much more voltage should be added to let GPU running at 1500MHz without any problem?, currently 1442MHz@1200mV is pretty stable in my case)
P/s: after many fail I have changed the gpu clock successfully but the voltage seem to be not changed, it is till keep running at 1200mV , do you have any ideas on this? Sad
Hope you reply soon.Thank you ^^!
