Hey,
I am looking into unlocking the DVMT pre-allocation size option as well as whitelist removal. Anybody would be kind enough to help? Smile
  • Exact make & model: Lenovo Z70-80 (i5-5200U / GT 840M / 1080p version)
  • BIOS image: attachment "backup.bin" - hope it is fine. If any errors found let me know and I will redo
  • "Screenshots" - wasn't able to provide as I already took my laptop apart for SPI flashing Big Grin

Thanks in advance!

Attached Files
.bin   backup.bin (Size: 8 MB / Downloads: 16)

I want to upgrade my Wifi Card. I need help from you regarding whitelist removal. Here are my settings:

- Model: Lenovo Z70-80
- Bios Version: 96 (abcn96ww, org. bios: here)
- Former Wifi card: Intel AC 3160 (new one 8265)
- Current bios dump: here
- Results from BACKUP_Tools12 is in the appendix

Greetings
Hi
Your bios chip is rewrite protected
Bios mod can be flashed using SPI-programmer+SOIC8 clip only

Hi Dudu2002,

thanks for your fast answer! What does it mean to be rewrite protected? I am able to execute the "BIOS Update" from the Lenovo site with success. That means the bios can be flashed or is this a different procedure?

Has anyone come up with any brilliant ideas in the one and a half years since I initially posted this?

I recently bought a SOIC programmer. Is it possible to flash an unlocked bios here from someone else or do you need the read from my own bios to unlock it? If so, has an unlocked bios the following features:

-change dvmt settings to more than 32mb
-whitelist removal

And my last question is, how can I identify the bios chip from my lenovo? Is it in every case a Winbond chip?

best regards
