Asrock X58 SuperComputer anti-spectre microcode and vt-d upgrade
#11
Try to flash my mod and make new screenshot of regedit with expanded key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DESCRIPTION\System\CentralProcessor\0 with disabled VT-d.
Then try to enable it.

What modification have you done? And how?
I can't even find the AMIPCB to edit the bios myself...

I've updated microcode only.

Thank you.
So you upgraded just the microcode.
Where did you get it?
Anyway I'm going to try it now.

Ok, about Spectre fix: success!
I downloaded and launched InSpectre release #8 utility/tool and with the original Bios the button "Enable Spectre Protection" was greyed out so unavailable, with your bios was available, I clicked on it, rebooted and this are the results (also checked with SpectreMeltdownCheck), also checked under Windows 10.

About vt-d with Windows 10, no success, it gets stuck at the windows blu logo bootscreen if vt-d is enabled...
We should figure out where the fix is located in the Asus Sabertooth X58 BIOS and dump it, to add to the Asrock Bios...

Geez, I just found that there were already patched bioses for my motherboard: http://forum.asrock.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=9239&title=spectre-patched-bios-for-asrock-x58-motherboards
Thank you very much anyway for your effort...

So, there's no hope to get the vt-d fix on the bios?

The search for a reason is very complicated.

Hi.
I found that the x58 chipset had issues with the VT-D enabled, when used with some virtualization software under linux or other unix based OS.
The problem seems to lie in a broken RMRR or DMAR table (that I don't know what is it, apart of being some address translation table).
So I thought that maybe it is the same issue that make Windows 10 64b 1803 and later freeze at booting if the vt-d is enabled.
I found that there is this thread but also this other one where it seems that TheWiz fixed the issue for that pre-built computer.
So I wanted to ask if he could do the magic again for other X58 motherboards, or at least show us what he did at that time and what software/tools he used to achieve that goal.
Anyway my latest bios, also spectre/meltdown patched, is here: http://www.mediafire.com/file/wke9sob2l3...D.zip/file
Thank in advance.
