2x CPU Dell Workstation BIOS modding
#1
There has been some progress overclocking dual CPU Dell Workstations. Specifically T5810/T5820.
I am not the one who did any of this. So you will need to look in the forum where this is happening to find more info.
This is an older TPU thread that started off software overclocking unlocked CPUs with no BIOS modding. But it included some unlocked Xeons from the start. So Dell workstations were on the menu. There is some very easy single CPU Dell workstation multiplier overclocking available there.
Recently a couple users have shown up who do know how to do BIOS modding, and they're reporting success overclocking 2x CPU workstations. None of the 2x CPU processors are unlocked (not since Skulltrail/ FBDIMM stuff ).
Jump in at about page 60 of the forum. That's where the BIOS modding discussion starts.

I personally have no further (or useful) information to add to this subject.

It sounds like you're referring to some exciting progress made on overclocking dual-CPU Dell workstations, particularly the T5810 and T5820 models. From what you've described, it started with software overclocking on unlocked CPUs, which allowed for some basic improvements without any BIOS modifications. Over time, users on the forum pushed further by overclocking single-CPU systems through easily adjustable multipliers, which was a relatively straightforward process.

However, the interesting part is that recently, a few more advanced users with BIOS modding skills have joined the conversation, and they've reportedly had success overclocking dual-CPU systems. As you mentioned, the 2x CPU processors haven't been unlocked since the old Skulltrail days, so this is quite an impressive feat. The BIOS modding aspect of this makes the project significantly more complex, but it seems like there's real potential here.

If you're looking for more details on the specific techniques or progress, jumping into the thread around page 60, where the BIOS modding discussion begins, is a great idea. It sounds like some really dedicated individuals are pushing the boundaries on these older machines. The thread might have all the insights you're after!

Have you tried this kind of overclocking yourself, or are you just following along with the developments?
