HP MCP61PM-HM (Nettle2) 5.27 With Unlocked Overclocking Options
As TheWiz just told, I have tested the existing pre-beta-BIOS and I needed a complete reinstall with some new drivers and not all are included in the standard-windowsXP-installation! I will try Windows 7 and later on Windows 2000 to ensure it is not only my Windows XP that has these problems. I tested also with Knoppix, Kubuntu and OpenSuse and these tests went fine. I cannot assure if it is working with all processors I once tested because I have sold so many parts till now, so I only tested with my Phenom X4 9500 and the stock Athlon 64 4200+...

Sometimes you just have to try to be sure it is not working...

Also please confirm that the BIOS I sent you was using the ASUS ROM (from the MPV stuff) that is labeled HPn2b3.bin. If its the right one the custom EPA for bios mods should be working. Once confirmed, I'll make the download availale.

EHM, I had no option to set in BIOS for the splash-screen although it was there in the ROM...

Hello folks.
I've been reading this thread for a few days now and successfully installed the custom bios thus far without a single issue and went as far as OC my Athlon 2x 5000+ processor to 2.8 GHZ without much of a hassle.

Now comes the not so fun part.
After reading on the responses and how well all processors at 80 watts or less have been doing, I bumped into a Phenom II 555 BE and after reading this article I am set on getting this to work.
Problem: It won't even boot, at all.

I am aware the AM3 processors are having some issues, but I'll be camping your thread until that becomes a thing of the past Smile
Thank you for all the updates btw! Greatly appreciate it.

Drumroll please: Here is the latest beta image that should boot AM3 proccessors. I reccommend someone like Gabe reports back first for you guys, but basically follow the EXACT same instructions you did for the last modded BIOS using this image.

Wait...this seems so impossible. Correct me if I'm wrong, but using this flashed bios and my terrible Iris, I'll be able to use an AM2+ phenom quad core of up to 95w like this one?

EDIT: I'm still new and pretty uneducated with tons of hardware so I have to ask; Does the motherboard alone decide how many watts it can handle in a processor or does the psu also have a say? If so, how would I know how many watts it can handle after upgrading to a better power supply?
