HP Proliant Microserver AMI BIOS MOD
#51
(08-28-2014, 11:34 PM)kamzata Wrote: Check out my new build based on latest BIOS (01/10/13). I tested it on my HP N54L and it works like a charm. It should resolve some incompatibility with latest version of Windows (8.1 and 2012 R2).

If you choose "Load Optimal Defaults" from BIOS it will enable on defaults some improvements:

  • Hot Swap HDD
  • SATA II (3.0GBps on all SATA ports)
  • ACPI v3.0

Enjoy!

hi, i just tried this rom you attached and it boots to usb but then does everything in less than 5 seconds and im back at command prompt. upon reviewing bios it appears to be still on the normal HP version, any ideas whats going wrong?

i found another copy of this rom elsewhere and it seemed to flash correctly now. the only issue im having is that i have an LSI based raid card and it tells me online i need to enable interrupt 19, on the main bios page, but i cant seem to find this... is it only available in certain versions of the bios?

I see there are two files attached to your post that bear the names assigned by HP and that are the same name as the new BIOS I downloaded from HP and installed. Are these files the HP downloads that may be difficult to get if your machine is out of warranty or are they files that you have altered?

The SP64420.exe is the program I downloaded from HP and it generated o41100113.rom that is now flashed to my HP BIOS. I did this because I am running Windows 2012r2.

I am desperately seeking a solution that will provide me at least one eSATA port with port multiplication and I understand this is provided by o41072911mod.rom. This bios mod is based on a previous bios that had problems with Windows 2012r2.

As an alternative I am also looking for Jbod PCI3 eSata card with port forwarding. The StarTech PEXSATA332I card does not have a driver for Windows 2012r2 and I cannot find one that does.

Thank you for your advice.

Me too! Thanks! I'm running 5 hard drives now and it's sweet!

It took me a while to mount the 5th hard drive properly because of the tight space. The first time the bracket wouldn't slide in when the fat bit was on the bottom (U===U). It went in okay upside-down U style though. The next problem was that the adapter bracket was pushing up on the bracket holding the power button and indicator lights, forcing the button to be always engaged with the lid back on. Finally I moved the slidey mounting screws forward so that the HDD bracket would clear the indicator light/power button bracket. I had to bend that bracket back down a little to disengage the power button properly.

Good luck to everyone else thinking of trying this! Totally worth it!

FYI for the 5th HDD you will need:
  1. Male molex to SATA power adapter
  2. SATA cable
  3. 5.25 to 3.5 adapter bracket
  4. 4 screws (secure HDD to adapter bracket)

Used this on a N54L (kamzata's BIOS) and it worked fine on both an N36L and N54L. The N36L previously had The Bay's BIOS on it.
