yakusa,

The most recent BIOS I posted does install correctly for AM2+/AM3 support, but I'm not sure if you will run into issues with PCI slots etc as reported by Tigerfox.

Be careful here, the Abit KN9 uses the older nForce4 Ultra, while ony the KN9S, KN9 Ultra and KN9 SLI use the nForce5 chipsets. I'd think that makes a big difference for the BIOS used.
That is a very valid point Tigerfox to say the least Smile

Looking forward for updates. I have a KN9 Ultra board, and i would love to have any quad core CPU on it until those AMD Bulldozers arrive and i be able to afford a new PC with it. It could be quite a long time to wait, lol, so i am definitely looking forward to this. Hope that the project is not forgotten.
The Wiz, are yous till on this? I'd still be willing to test any modded BIOS you give to me. I'm looking forward to Bulldozer aswell but since that would mean buying an alsmost completely new rig I'd still prefer to only upgrade my current CPU.
Is it even possible to make another boards BIOS working on hte ABIT, when there are so many differences in components used?
I would guess the problems I had when using the M2N-SLI Deluxe BIOS and danbabkin had when using the GA-M55S-S3 BIOS came from the different I/O-chips used (Winbond on the ABIT vs ITE on the other two). Unfortunately, since ASUS and Gigabyte are the only vendors I know of that gave MCP55-boards phenom-support, there is no MCP55 board with an winbond chip taht supports the phenom. Wouldn't this be a big obstacle to modding any BIOS for the Abit?
Yes it is quite a big obstacle, but we are still working on this. We recently added the AMD Developer BIOS documentation to our developer forum and I am having a couple guys study it with me. My guess is that the actual Main BIOS ROM from the ABIT could be theoretically modified to support Phenom in the "AuthenticAMD" header. This is very tricky work though so it is taking us time, but please know we are still trying our best to manage these requests.

Thanks,
TheWiz
That souns promising. Thank you for the hard work.
Any update on the matter?
I would be willing and have the time for further testing atm.
I'm very very happy I came across this thread! I also have an Abit KN9 motherboard - but I'm not sure which one it is! (KN9 or KN9s).

If I could get phenom support that would be brilliant!!!! Save me loads of money on a new system!!!!

BTW - what's the best processor I could put into this system?
