So far what I've done is tried to replace the ID of one of the whitelisted cards, a Realtek RTL81XX 10EC:8176 10EC:8195 with my WiFi card BCM4311 (14E4:4311 106B:004E). I've narrowed the problem down to a hash check failure after modifying the FL1 file (the BIOS rom). I can successfully modify the FL2 file (the ECP) and flash the modified BIOS file, but you need both the ECP and BIOS in order for the card to pass whitelist. If there were some way to generate new HSH files after modification I'd be able to flash my BIOS.

Oh well, worst case scenario I'll just have to wait til my EEPROM programmer arrives in a few weeks.
a little off topic, but is there some reason why I can only upgrade or downgrade my BIOS to 2.57 and higher? Any version lower and it tells me that the BIOS is not for my system.

It's most probably fixed for your MoBo release !
I would to know if I have to prepare a Bios Mod for 2.59 or 2.62
as linked Bios was 2.62, but Bios Backup is 2.59 !
I will upload quickly a Bios Mod for You, when You let me know
which one as actualy I can do 2.59 !

My current BIOS is 2.59.  The latest BIOS available is 2.62.

I have done 2.59 , but It's to be replaced into FULL_DUMP from your Eeprom so
don't use directly !
I prefer You contact to me to do this job !
You have to read and save the Firmware from your Eeprom(s) before all operations
as if You loose that You cannot recover never your laptop after that !
You have these two Eeproms so read both :

    MX25L6405D    ID:0xC22017    Size: 8192KB (65536Kb)

    MX25L3205D    ID:0xC22016    Size: 4096KB (32768Kb)

Thanks.  The eeprom programmer I ordered should be arriving today, but the SOIC8 adapter cable probably won't arrive until next week at the earliest.  As with anything that has the potential to break a device like rooting android phones, modding video game consoles and flashing BIOSes, I ALWAYS make a backup in case something goes wrong.  I've yet to manage to fully brick a single device yet, but I've had some close calls with cell phones.
Anyway, I will be contacting you for detailed instructions before I attempt to flash my bios chips.  It's my understanding that there are two SOIC chips, one containing the BIOS and the other containing the ECP and both need to be flashed, right?
Also, am I correct in assuming that with the adoption of UEFI BIOS, the BIOS is RSA keyed to the individual motherboard and so to flash a modified BIOS, you have to do a full dump directly from the chip (which will contain the RSA) replaced the BIOS files in the dump with the modified ones and then flash the modified backup back over the chip? I'm just trying to understand the whole process here.

Ok to make clear !
UEFI is RSA Signed and all Bioses, actualy, cannot be reflashed
using Original Tools as They check the Signature !
Once Bios is wrote to UEFI Partition It will be Decrypted and write
in a normal form so the Backup is Decapsulated and Decrypted
(unSigned, except HP Bioses whichs have an internal check) !
So to write into Eeprom Bios Region Mod We have to get all
Firmware = FULL DUMP as It is a sequence of pieces :

Descriptor - ME - GbE - Bios - PdR

and We cannot know where is the Bios Region (piece)
without read all Firmware !
Sometime happen that Bios Region is into 2nd Eeprom
so start at 0x0000000 offset etc., sometimes is a piece of
1st Eeprom so We have to Write only 1st Eeprom or can be
truncated between 1st and 2nd eeproms !
I hope You understand the explaination.
We will replace the Bios Region with Bios Mod !

Thanks for the clarification. So, my TL866A programmer arrived yesterday. Now I'm just waiting for the SOIC8 cable and then I'm ready to do a backup of my BIOS. Are you going to need a copy of the full dump I'll perform with the TL866A?

I have got this Programmer and by It is not possible to use Soic Clip on MoBo directly !
So I buyed a second and same issue only few times go right adjusting timing read !
I think You will remove chips from MoBo !

P.S. yes the better thing to do a Bios Region replace is to get a Full Dump Frirmware (for You too)
I have read that elsewhere in the forums, but I'm still going to try and use the clip first. I can desolder the BIOS chip from the board if need be, but I'm going to attempt using the clip first anyway. As a rule, I always try the minimally invasive approach before jumping right to the nuclear option. Desoldering and resoldering surface mount electronics from motherboards isn't impossible, but it is kind of a pain and the risk of damaging things is unnecessarily high. I avoid it whenever possible. but in certain cases like repairing motherboards with blown capacitors, it is necessary.
